A TTC driver allegedly met a 15-year-old girl online, lured her to a streetcar and sexually assaulted her, Toronto police said Friday.
Det.-Const. Joe Kaszyca said the 39-year-old transit operator, who apparently goes by “Bus driver Al” on social media, met the girl on Twitter in November 2014. Last month, the two met in person on a streetcar while the man was driving, police say. Det.-Const. Kaszyca alleged that the man sexually assaulted the girl on or near his empty streetcar on three separate occasions.
Oshawa resident Allan Hrynkiw is charged with three counts of sexual assault, three counts of sexual interference and three counts of child luring.
The TTC suspended the driver with pay.
“We need to interview him and gather more information,” TTC spokesman Brad Ross said. “The status of pay or without pay may then change based on the outcome of that interview.”
A Twitter account for “Bus driver Al,” bears a profile photo that matches the photo of Hrynkiw provided by police. The biography attached to that account reads, “Just call me Mr. Night Bus Driver for the TTC. Commonly seen on route 506/306 Carlton.”
Asked about the monicker, Det.-Const. Kaszyca said the accused used to drive a bus.
