TORONTO LIQUOR LICENCE LAWYER

The Criminal and Regulatory Offense Group provides expert legal opinion on Liquor Licensing in Toronto and southern Ontario. We have been consulted by numerous leaseholder and business owners facing a Notice of Proposal or other serious licensing infractions. Recently in in our NO. 20800 the Regulatory Group provided expert legal representation where the business owner was accused of having Hells Angels ties. We have also defended a number of infractions involving serving alcohol after hours and allowing alcohol to be brought brought outside the licensed premisses.

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) is a Provincial agency, established under the Alcohol and Gaming Regulation and Public Protection Act, 1996. The Act gave the AGCO responsibility for the administration of the Liquor Licence Act and the Gaming Control Act, 1992. The AGCO is responsible for inspecting and monitoring licensed establishments to ensure compliance with the Liquor Licence Act and regulations and casinos and slot machine facilities, charitable gaming events/facilities and retail locations where OLG lottery products are sold for compliance with the the Gaming Control Act, 1992.

Being accused of a violation under Liquor Licence Act can have serious financial and criminal consequences for businesses and business owners. Penalties range from serious fines to extended license suspensions.

Serving alcohol is a profitable industry. We handle time sensitive infractions for nightclubs, adult entertainment parlors, bars and restaurants. Our business is to have your business resuming as soon as possible. We have settled and successfully defended numerous offences prosecuted by the AGCO. Recently in late 2013, we secured a withdrawal for allegations of permitting a patron to remove liquor and permitting drunkenness or riotous, quarrelsome, violent or disorderly conduct without a monetary penalty or suspension to the merchant.
