Real Evidence
Real evidence refers to any item that conveys a first-hand impression on the judge or jury. This means that the judge or jury must use their own senses (sight, smell, etc.) to make observations about the evidence and draw conclusions. For example, the jury views a photo of the victim in an assault case and uses their own observations to determine the victim had a black eye in the photo.
Real evidence includes, but is not limited to:
